Before attending grad school for playwriting at Ohio University, I acted & improvised for 11 years in Chicago (including a year in Boston.) I trained & performed at i.O. and Annoyance improv theaters, and attended the School At Steppenwolf summer acting program. For the last seven years or so, I played with Revolver at i.O., and with the independent team I founded, Pudding-Thank-You (PTY) at various theaters around the city including i.O., CIC, and American Theater Company. Both teams have traveled across the country performing at various festivals, theaters, and universities, and teaching workshops. We’ve gone to Del Close Marathon (NYC), Los Angeles (iO West), Kansas City, New Orleans (The New Movement Theater), North Carolina (ComedyWorx), Ohio State University (8th Floor Improv & their Bellwether Festival), and Ohio University. I currently help coach Ohio University’s improv group, Black Sheep.
In addition to training at The School at Steppenwolf, my other acting credits include Timeline Theater, Collaboraction Theater, Strawdog, Wildclaw Theater, and Steppenwolf: Next Up.
I have been taught and coached improv by Jeff Griggs, John Lutz, Craig Cackowski, Peter Gwinn, Joe Canale, TJ Jagodowski, Paul Grondy, Noah Gregoropoulos, Susan Messing, Rebecca Sohn, Mark Sutton, Mick Napier, Sheldon Patinkin, Miles Stroth, Dan Bakkedahl, Jean Villepique, and Brendan Dowling.
I was assistant to director for The Second City e.t.c. revue, “Show Title Deemed Indecent by FCC” directed by Sue Gillan. The cast was Peter Grosz (“Late Night with Seth Meyers;” Sonic Commercials), Rebecca Drysdale (Key & Peele; Orange is the New Black), Frank Caeti (MadTV), Jen Bills, Matt Craig (SNL), and Sam Albert.
